Believing These 7 Myths About Online Games Keeps You From Growing

If you are a game lover, then you might be aware of the criticism, judgment, and stereotype that fatal online gaming culture. You might have given a hard time for how violent your games appear or asked questions about how much time you waste on it neglecting your responsibilities. These games carry a false stigma of making you antisocial and rot your brain, but in reality, are good for your mental health. For example: – strategy games improve decision making and teamwork skills. There are numerous myths about online games that are being spread among players and non-players.  Some of these myths are as follows:

  • Waste of time and not good for kids

Many people consider playing games is a total waste of time and they are so violent which makes them inappropriate for kids.  There is an educational and creative layer in online games that helps in their development. However, that doesn’t mean kids should play games all the time. They can play games for like an hour a day and can increase playtime during vacation. Many researches have also suggested that a 3-year-old kid must play for about 10-15 minutes and 6-year-old for around 30 minutes a day.

  • Girls are not gamers

This is a myth that is observed around the world that girls are not gamers. Some even think that girl’s gaming is not a thing that exists, and they only exist for men. Games are not gender-biased; anybody can play irrespective of gender. According to a survey, more than 70% players of Territory war are women. Playing games is rather a personal choice, that doesn’t mean boys love games and girls don’t. 

  • Only unemployed people have the time to play online games

Games are loved by everybody, whether employed or unemployed or children or adults. It has become a mainstream activity. Unemployed people or housewives indeed have free time to kill, but that doesn’t mean games are meant for them only. It is a matter of choice and self-preference, even a school or college going student, working men or women love to play online games, whenever they get free. 

  • You can only play real games on consoles

The quality of online games has improved with technology, and most of the games that we used to play on the console are available online. There is no need for a console having a real-life gaming experience anymore; you can have the same experience with PC games.

  • Provokes violent activities

It is one of the most common myths that drive parents crazy and make them stop their children from playing online games. Most of us believe that playing violent games provokes children to indulge in violent activities. These games need them to be more agile and patient than to be violent.   

People are under this impression that playing games make the player lose connectivity with others, which leads to isolation. They become less social and more like a gaming robot whereas, the reality is quite the opposite. You can interact with players around the world sitting at your home while playing games. 

  • Rot your brain

People especially adults believed for years that playing games rot player’s brains.  However, in reality, it improves the brain’s speed, enhances social skills, improves the mind & hand coordination, and flex your memory. Besides, it is seen in many researches that playing online games can help fight dyslexia, as it requires intense focus and patience.
