#How to Use This Tool?
Before I do anything else, through this SEMrush review, I will demonstrate what SEMrush is. Additionally, I will give you a quick overview of the SEMrush platform.
But, to take this seriously as a business, you need to use SEMrush.
All I can do is share features and tell you how to use them. But, to get the most benefit depends on how you use the features correctly.
My first suggestion for you is to try SEMrush for free so you can get the hang of it. Here, I have given SEMrush free trial link.
Once you start using SEMrush, you will gain more experience and knowledge about it.
SEMrush costs are far less than the huge income you can earn for yourself in the long run. Therefore, it is worth determining the price you pay.
SEMrush Selection Tools
We replaced SEMrush with high expectations for the first time, helping us better identify and target new keywords we want to rank for, and indicate that our clients’ websites are already ranked.
SEMrush has a lot of tools to help users on research keywords and blog article topics. From new keyword magic tools to topical research tools, to organic research tools, you’ll have a heap of keywords to create content for years to come.
Keyword Magic Tool
This is my favorite keyword research tool in the SEMrush Suite. In fact, this is my favorite keyword research practice period.
With over two million keywords in its database, you will find many keywords for your business.
If you’re helping multiple clients or your business has many facets, you can also create 50 targeted keyword lists.
Type any keyword (though I recommend typing a short tail keyword) and you will get results right away.
I did a quick search for “content marketing” to see what keywords I wanted to pursue.
As you can see, a quick search allows me to review 116,380 keywords with “content marketing”.
- Long tail keywords to chase
- Average monthly volume of searches
- Trend graph
- Keyword is difficult
- CPC (average cost of keywords advertising)
- Competition to enter Adwords auction
- Number of SERP attributes found for the keyword
You can also look at the table to help break down the commonly used keywords associated with “content marketing”. For example, more than 880 searches have the word “strategy”.
You also have the option of checking the “query” box, which allows you to type in who, why, when, where, and how people type for that keyword.
Now, all those results can be overwhelming and difficult. Add a check to the box next to the keywords that you think are valuable and you can send them to the Keyword Analyzer tool for future use.
Keyword Analyzer Tool
With the Keyword Analyzer tool, you can see 1,000 keywords to choose from.
From here you can:
- More keywords for analysis.
- Export them to a spreadsheet.
- Send them to other tools, such as location tracking tools.
Domain Overview Tool
With SEMrush, you don’t have to stop researching new keywords. You can also learn a ton of information about your own website, including keywords you have already ranked.
Often, you may not realize some keywords that bring traffic to your site or the amount of traffic that those keywords bring to you.
To collect information about your own domain, enter your root domain in the Domain Overview tool.
One thing that needs to be noted before proceeding is that these numbers in SEMrush’s Domain Overview do not reflect the overall monthly traffic on the site.
Instead, it distributes organic and paid search traffic from keywords in Seamrush’s 120 million keywords database. They use an algorithm to estimate your monthly traffic based on the number of keywords, the location of the keyword, and the average CTR of those keywords.
When you calculate traffic from direct traffic, social media traffic and email campaigns, your website traffic are very high.
With that in mind, consider some of the amazing metrics that SEMrush can offer in its domain search when you type in your website:
- An overview of the amount of traffic known to SEMrush runs through organic traffic to your site.
- Payment search may include the amount of traffic you bring.
- The number of backlinks representing domains
- Visual representation of sources for organic and paid keywords.
- Graph showing traffic from organic and paid sources over time (1 month, 6 months, 1 year, 2 years or all-time).
- Top 5 organic keywords that drive traffic to your site. You can click through this section for more tons of analytics (more on these metrics below).
- A graph showing the organic location distribution, for example, how many keywords your keywords rank in, how many rank 4-10, 11-20, etc. in the top 100 results.
- Who are your top organic competitors based on traffic and overlapping keywords? Most of the competitors listed may not even know you. More on organic competitors later.
- Graph showing the number of keywords and the competition location map by organic search traffic
- A chart showing the highest paying keywords that drive traffic to the site (expanded to see full reports for more metrics
- A graph showing the distribution of payment locations for keyword ads you are targeting.
- Chart showing your main payment competitors (top 5 are displayed. More information can be gathered by clicking on the chart).
- A graph that shows your competitive location map for your payment keywords, and also the traffic your competitors bring in from PPC keywords.
- Sample some of your PPC ads
- Some backlinks that refer to your site, what a site is, and the anchor text and URLs that link to those backlinks.
- Top Anchor Text used in backlinks to indicate traffic to your site.
- Refers to the domains that drive traffic to your site, sorted by many backlinks that point to your webpages.
- The most popular index page where you can reconnect with other domains.
Remember, all of this information is just an overview of the matrix.
To learn more about each data set, click on any metrics that interest you to see the full report.
While we may not get into every possible metric point (we do not want to spoil your future search with SEMrush), we will discuss some of the most frequently used ones.
Position Tracking Tool
Once you have identified the keywords you really want to track (if you already have pages targeted or you want to create something), you can find them in the status tracking tool.
Here you get weekly updates on how you and your competitors rank for those keywords.
Another very nice feature is that you show all the different SERP attributes that the keyword triggers and those SERP attributes.
You can review the specific pages you are looking for if those keywords need improvement.
You can check your competitors landing pages to see what they are doing to help you get new ideas for your pages.
One of my favorite features of a location tracking tool, especially if you are a local business, is how you can target those keywords to Geo, how you are doing at the local search level without relying on your national ranking.
Keyword Gap Tool
Another excellent tool found in Domain Overview is the Keyword Gap tool.
The Keyword Gap tool can really help you see how your website stands out over others in your space, targeting certain keywords like yours.
You can enter up to five websites at once, but I recommend you start with the top competitor as opposed to the top head of your website.
What you get with the Keyword Gap tool is a list of keywords that come from you and your competitor (both). You see your ranking against your own.
You will also find information such as volume, CPC and difficulty in ranking for AdWords competition.
Another way to use the tool is to change the Venn diagram between websites so that you can see the keywords your competitor has not seen.
Use the keyword gap tool so that you can search for keywords under your competitors and make changes to those pages to improve your ranking.
Or search for keywords you don’t have and search for new content ideas.
Organic Research Tool
You can learn a lot about yourself or your competitors in organic research tools.
On the Overview tab, you get a nice graph that shows your keyword growth over time. You can change this graph to show the top 10 page results, top 5 page results, first two-page results, first page results, and top three results.
On the Locations tab, you get a full table of all keywords that are currently ranked in the top 100 results.
Here we see a complete set of keywords that contain information on SEMrush that drives traffic to the website.
By default, SEMrush lists the ones that carry the highest volume of monthly traffic. However, other data points can be used to sort keywords:
- For keyword biological search results with the arrow pointing to the previous location.
- The position gain or loss difference compared to the last crawl.
- Estimated number of monthly searches for that keyword.
- Cost per click for keyword.
- The URL page associated with the keyword.
- CPC average.
- Competitive Density for Keywords For those who are willing to advertise for it.
- The indexed URL contains the total number of keywords
- Trends over time by the popularity of searches
- SERP or snapshot of the first page of results in the search engine.
- And when the data of the keyword was last updated.
Website Review Tool
If you want to know how well your website and website copy works, SEMrush has a full set of tools for these types of metrics.
Site Audit Tool
You can also do site audits on SEMrush to see if there is a problem, as you are unable to check all your keywords, your competitors’ keywords and the amount of traffic you bring. This is a site that interrupts performance.

From this tool, we have received errors, warnings, and notices that we can review to improve performance.
Backlink Audit Tool
Now that you know how many backlinks you have and which domains link to your page, how much can you trust those links?
Are they from reputable sources?
Do you have some links from poisonous sources that refer to your website?
Even if you don’t create incoming links by yourself, and there are many toxic backlinks that don’t separate, Google thinks you shouldn’t practice good homework.
Toxic backlinks can damage your own site’s reputation, so you may want to review your backlinks and delete more toxic links.
The backlink audit tool is very useful for the list of toxic backlinks.
Backlinks Analysis Tools
Backlinks are still one of the most important codes of search engines that help determine the quality of the pages.
While copying is still an important metric, search engines look at how other people and websites feel about the quality of content.
Think about it, you don’t link to a page that has zero value for your audience to follow. Why do you send them somewhere that doesn’t help them much.
Instead, you link to high-quality content that is worth reading.
In the Backlink Analytics tool, you can review all of your backlinks (or any competitor’s website) to see which pages are linking, where those links are coming from, and how your backlinks are growing over time.
